Daylighting concept
The detailed studies have made it possible to develop a light control and sun protection concept using blinds with different position and running direction that is exactly oriented to the building geometry and the location:
1 Sun protection at north side /
running direction from bottom to top
- Small amount of closing is sufficient to prevent direct sunlight entry
- Small amount of partial closing reduces excessive lighting intensity in the balustrade area of the exhibition, also on cloudy days
2 Sun protection at north side / internal
- Reflections in the exhibition can only be avoided by partial closing if the sun protection is internal (e.g. minimal amount of closing, high level of light admission is otherwise desirable).
3 Sun protection at south side /
running direction from top to bottom
- The sunlight can be used to illuminate the lower room by means of partial closing
- The size of the light field on the northern wall can be regulated
4 Sun protection at south side /
running direction from top to bottom
- Less partial closing is required to provide sun protection than with a running direction from bottom to top, since the shading from surrounding buildings is utilised.
4 Sun protection at south side / external
- Amount of heat admission is minimised
-
Amount of interfering reflection of direct sunlight at the south façade of the courtyard is reduced
